The first time I went to Switzerland I wanted to have all the fun in the sky. So, I booked a paragliding trip, and on a different day, I went skydiving. This was my first time paragliding, and from the moment I reserved my spot, I was stoked for the experience.

Is Paragliding In Switzerland Worth It?

Yes! If you love mountains, lakes, greenery, views, and unique experiences, paragliding in Switzerland is absolutely worth it! Switzerland is known to be a mecca for adventure lovers, and paragliding is one of the top-rated adventure activities there.

Exploring Switzerland through the air is worth the investment and will leave you with unforgettable picturesque and thrilling memories.

Can you go paragliding in the winter?

Yes, you can go paragliding in the winter in Switzerland.

It is common for visitors to paraglide in the winter for stunning views of the snow-covered Alps.

I won’t sugarcoat it, it can and more than likely, will be fairly cold. If paragliding in the winter is something you want to do, make sure you pack layers and dress appropriately. It will be a bit cooler than you think at a higher elevation and more wind, so keep that in mind for your snowscape adventure. 😊

Tip: Grab some hot coffee after your adventure to warm up!

Where To Go Paragliding In Switzerland

Are you deciding where in Switzerland you want to go paragliding? These locations are the 4 best spots. Other cities have paragliding tours, however, these outer city views are some that you won’t want to skip out on.

📍 Interlaken

Since I have my skydiving B-license, I spent a lot of time in Interlaken either hiking or skydiving. I didn’t personally paraglide here but the views were wicked for skydiving, so the landscape will be similar for paragliding.

There are panoramic views of mountains all around you, the city of Interlaken below you, and a lake, making this a highly desired location.

📍 Zermatt

This location was a must on my Switzerland itinerary. You may not have the views of lakes like other cities, but the iconic mountain views are worth it.

✨ Top Zermatt Tour: FlyZermatt

Paragliding in front of the Matterhorn is still one of my favorite experiences. It was one thing to see this famous mountain range while walking around the village of Zermatt and hiking in the area. But, viewing it while gliding through the air was the next level.

I loved paragliding with FlyZermatt, the instructors were very knowledgeable, fun, and patient.

Traveler’s Tip: If you reserve an early morning flight the thermals are more gentle, if you want a bit more of a thrill, reserve a spot a little later for stronger updrafts.

If you are visiting Zermatt and love the amazing views of the Matterhorn, try viewing them from a different angle. Paragliding with FlyZermatt will show you views of the Matterhorn from the air.

📍 Lucerne

This was one of my favorite places to visit in Switzerland. I wish I had more time in Lucerne and was only able to spend about a day and a half in the city. After I left, I knew I would be back.

The views are fairly similar to Lauterbrunnen and Interlaken with beautiful lakes, mountains, and lush forests.

This location is very similar to Interlaken since it’s only a 15-minute drive away. Lauterbrunnen is tucked in the mountains a little more than Interlaken.

What You Need To Know Before You Go:

I will be honest and say that I was a bit skeptical about the price of going paragliding in Switzerland. I did a lot of research and felt like the investment was worth the experience and memories. Let me tell you, it was worth it.

One of the nice things about paragliding is that you don’t need to know too much before you go. If you are a little nervous about the experience don’t be scared to ask the guides questions or tell them you are nervous. They will help you feel comfortable and make your experience enjoyable.

What to Expect:

  • Briefing from the paragliding instructors on what will happen, safety, and then walk to the launch point
  • Instructors will help you put on the equipment properly & secure it
  • Instructors will set up the parachute
  • The instructor will connect you to their paragliding harness via the tandem harness that you will be wearing
  • Prepare for a run that only takes a few steps before lifting off into the air
  • Enjoy the surrounding scenery and take in the thrill and relaxation of being able to fly. Make sure to smile for the camera!
  • The instructor will brief you on proper landing procedures and typically ask you to keep your legs up while landing

What to Wear:

I typically wear athletic gear when I skydive, and I did the same thing while paragliding.

I put my hair back into a braid and wore athletic bottoms, sneakers, and a long-sleeved shirt. Check the weather beforehand and remember it will be breezy while you’re soaring around the sky.

Tip: Don’t wear any jewelry or clothing that could get caught up.

Safety:

The paragliding instructors will give you a thorough safety brief before your tour begins and answer any questions.
